August 21-22, 2021 All day
The Cowlitz Public Shooting Range is holding a free “First Shots” introduction to shotgun clay target trap shooting on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22, 2021, to mark National Shooting Sports Month. Participants will attend a short classroom briefing and then shoot 10 clay targets at our trap range. This is COMPLETELY FREE, with all materials supplied including eye and hearing protection, which are yours to keep. We will provide the shotguns, ammo and the clay targets, but you can bring your own gun if you like. As a bonus, you will receive a $25 coupon redeemable at the range for future trap shooting if you complete a post event survey. (Sorry, you don’t get to keep the shotgun.)
Space is limited to 30 participants per day, Saturday and Sunday, and reservations are suggested so we can schedule and accommodate 10 shooters per session. Non-reserved participants will be allowed only on a space available basis. Shooting sessions are at 10:00 a.m., Noon and 2:00 p.m., and will last approximately 90 minutes. This “First Shots” event is sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the shooting sports trade association. Additional details can be found at www.cowlitzshootingrange.com, email CPSR98611@gmail.com or call Steve Nelson at 360-846-3535.
No prior shooting experience is required – this is a beginner level “First Shots” experience. There are no age restrictions for participation, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and the usual liability waiver must be completed. We will be using 12 gauge shotguns designed for adults, so younger users who may have trouble with the length and weight of the gun may not be allowed to shoot. We will try to have some youth model and 20 gauge guns available as well, but that is not guaranteed.
